Bonalba
Lead A More Colourful Life!

Bonalba is a modern development with residential communities flanking the lush 72-hole golf course designed by Ramón Espinosa. Much of the accommodation has panoramic views across the golf course towards the Mediterranean sea or spectacular views of the rugged mountain ranges which dominate the landscape behind the development.

Whether you are looking to buy or rent a permanent or holiday property, Bonalba offers an enviable mixture of property types; from studio apartments and town houses right through to luxury villas overlooking the golf course.

One of the most striking features of Bonalba are the brightly coloured properties; painted in a variety of Mediterranean hues, the distinct colours are carefully chosen to reflect the traditional painted houses found just twenty minutes north in the town of Villajoyosa.

Take any of the roads which meander down to the sea-front in Villajoyosa and before long you will come across the brightly coloured fishermen’s houses. According to local historians, the houses were traditionally painted in bright colours to enable the fishermen to recognise their houses whilst out at sea.

Another of Bonalba’s features is, of course, the golf course. Immediately attractive to golfers of all abilities, the wide swathes of green, lush vegetation, lakes and trees are also attractive to non-golfers who appreciate the beauty and tranquillity of this oasis in an otherwise arid part of Spain. In short, Bonalba offers the best of both worlds; a beautiful green landscape in an area of Spain which typically enjoys 320 days of sunshine per year.

In addition to golf, Bonalba has many excellent sports and leisure facilities, including; a tropical water park, spa, gymnasium, crèche, tennis courts, pitch & putt, bowling green, restaurants and shops. Add to this the fact that the long sandy beaches of El Campello and San Juan are just a few minutes drive away by car and you have an idyllic location for enjoying a holiday or for permanent living.

Living On Bonalba

Many people choose to make Bonalba their permanent home in Spain and there is a good reason for their choice. The development supports a thriving international community where Spanish, English, Dutch, German, Belgian and French families (to name but a few nationalities) live alongside each other.

Just like the United Kingdom, the location of the property you buy is equally important in Spain, not only for your enjoyment and comfort whilst living in the property but also when you eventually come to sell the property.

Bonalba has an enviable mix of property types; from studio apartments and townhouses through to luxury villas overlooking the golf course. As a result, Bonalba has something to suit every taste or pocket, particularly those seeking a modern, well-constructed property on an established development.

Families, retired couples and young professionals make Bonalba their home and many ex-pats work or run businesses in the area.

Families with children have the choice of sending their children to the local Spanish schools or enrolling them in one of the excellent British or International schools in the area. For more information about sending children to school in Spain check out our ‘Going To School In Spain’ area of the website.  A daily bus service operates from Bonalba to most of the schools in the area.

Bonalba offers a golf academy summer sports school, swimming lessons, tennis lessons and even fencing lessons for children. Nearby, children can enrol in Spanish language classes, sailing classes, dance classes and music lessons.

Retired couples will find the relaxed pace of life and lower cost of living in Spain a welcome change; also, this area of Spain has been declared one of the healthiest places to live in the world by the World Health Organisation. So, little wonder retired people say they feel healthier and more relaxed after just a short period of living here.

Bonalba itself has a Lawn Bowling Club where many ex-pats meet to enjoy and afternoon bowling in the sunshine. They also regularly compete in competitions and organise social events. In the nearby town of Busot there is also a Ladies Club which meets every Monday and the nearby seaside town of San Juan also has an English Speaking club with an English library. For more details check out our ‘Things to do, places to see’ section of the website.

Medical facilities in Spain are excellent; however, there is also an English speaking doctor in the nearby town of El Campello and an English speaking dentist in Bonalba should people feel more comfortable communicating in their own language.

In short, Bonalba has a lot to offer for those looking to make a permanent home in Spain, but don’t just take our word for it – below is the story of a family who live and work on Bonalba.
